Learning Specialist

Minimum Qualification Requirements
This position requires a Master’s degree with a Special Education endorsement and Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent out-of-state certification; Experience working with students with Learning Disabilities.
 
Professional Requirements
Professional requirements include but are not limited to knowledge and experience in customer and personal service, psychology, and education. Attention to detail, ability to manage stressful situations, strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Job Description
Under the direction of the student support director, the learning specialist provides interventions for students with identified learning needs.
  • Monitors and evaluates student progress and response to interventions through weekly team meetings.
  • Conducts and analyzes school-wide benchmark testing to ensure students are meeting grade-level expectations.
  • Communicates with parents and outside specialists about student progress and support needs.
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
  • Creates individualized education plans based on the student psycho-educational evaluations.

 

Middle School Counselor

Minimum Qualification Requirements
This position requires a Master’s degree in Counseling/Social Work and PEL with School Counseling endorsement.

Job Description
Under the direction of the student support director, the counselor provides and advises teachers regarding appropriate social-emotional learning experiences for students.
  • Monitors and evaluates student progress and response to interventions through weekly team meetings.
  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Facilitates group counseling for students through the advisory program and small groups.
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
