How Do You Spell Champion? R-O-C-C-O!

Rocco with the ICSJ Principals
On Tuesday, March 10, 5th grader Rocco C. represented ICSJ School in the Chicago Collaborative Spelling Bee. Facing off against 18 fourth through eighth grade students from schools across Chicago, Rocco calmly navigated over 20 rounds of competition to emerge as the sole champion! Rocco's final two words: sporadically and impediment.

Rocco earned the opportunity to compete by winning the ICSJ Spelling Bee in January. At ICSJ, he competed against 60 fourth through eighth graders and his final word was assertion.

Next up...Rocco will travel to DC to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2020. Based on his performance at the Chicago Collaborative Bee, he now receives an automatic invitation every year through eighth grade to this incredible event.
