ICSJ Students Win Top Honors at the Regional Science Fair!

This year, five 8th grade ICSJ students were selected to compete at the regional science fair at the Museum of Science and Industry. Their hard work paid off in the form of multiple award recipients. Check out the results below:

Bella- Project Title: "The Dissolution Time of Different NSAID Medications in Simulated Stomach Acid" - Silver Award for Biochemistry

Mary Pat - Project Title: "Dazed and Confused: A Study of Teenage Short-term Memory" - Gold Award for Behavioral Science

Zach- Project Title: "A Comparison of Soil and Hydroponic Plant Growth" - Gold Award for Botany, Special Recognition Award for Ecological Studies from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (lunch/awards ceremony, boat tour of Chicago)

Stella - Project Title: "DNA Extraction in Different Types of Fruit" - Gold Award for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Superior Achievement Award ($50 prize), Top Poster Award - Advancing to the Illinois State Science Fair

Conor- Project Title: "Cost Efficiency in Batteries: Alkaline vs. Lithium" - Gold Award for Electronics, Poster Award of Excellence, Kozanecki Engineers Award ($50 prize), Top Poster Award - Advancing to the Illinois State Science Fair
