Team ICSJ Supports Pediatric Brain Tumor Research

Brain Tumors and Children. Words you never wish to hear in the same sentence. While pediatric brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children, only $1 million is given annually for pediatric brain tumor research by government agencies.

Two ICSJ angels have been bravely battling brain tumors this year. These superhero students have undergone brain surgeries, chemotherapy, physical therapy and much more. Yet they continue to enter ICSJ’s doors with smiles on their faces, eager to learn, play and grow with their friends.

Last Thursday, nearly 100 ICSJ students, teachers and parents gathered on Diversey Harbor for the 15th Annual Run for Gus in support of these Dolphins. Team ICSJ was the top team fundraiser, raising over $13,500 to advance pediatric brain tumor research and support services at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

These students and their warrior families inspire our entire community daily. Keep fighting A & C - the power of ICSJ is behind you all the way!
