Our Educators

Immaculate Conception–St. Joseph School is dedicated to nurturing each student’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, and civic potential, ensuring they thrive in a small school community in a great big city—a true "family of families." We foster a supportive environment where every student is valued and guided toward their fullest development.

 

From PreK through 3rd grade, we prioritize individualized attention by providing two certified teachers in every classroom. This co-teaching model ensures that students receive personalized instruction tailored to their needs. In grades 4-5, each classroom is led by one certified teacher alongside a dedicated differentiation specialist, who works to adapt the curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning styles. In grades 6-8, departmentalized learning allows students to benefit from teachers who specialize in specific subject areas, enhancing their educational experience.

 

Beyond core classroom instruction, ICSJ offers a rich array of specialized support. Our faculty includes two Spanish teachers, two physical education teachers, a technology integration specialist, a librarian, an art teacher, a music teacher, a STEM teacher, and a school nurse. Additionally, students and faculty receive daily support from two learning specialists, a literacy specialist, two school counselors, an Early Childhood Director, and an Athletic Director.

 

The ICSJ staff is comprised of 60 dedicated professionals, led by our Co-Principals, two Assistant Principals, and our Pastor, Father Larry Lisowski. Over 70% of our team holds a Master's Degree or is currently pursuing one, with administrative team members holding Master's Degrees in education and the required Type 75 Illinois Administrative Certificate.

 

At ICSJ, we place a strong emphasis on fostering an authentic professional learning community (PLC). Our faculty meet twice monthly to collaborate, share best practices, and engage in professional development. These regular PLC meetings are integral to our school’s mission, as they provide dedicated time for teachers to reflect on their practice, discuss student progress, and develop new strategies to meet the needs of our diverse learners. This ongoing professional growth ensures that our talented faculty stays at the forefront of educational best practices, continuously improving their skills and enhancing student outcomes.

 

In addition to our PLC, ICSJ is committed to nurturing a positive school culture, both inside and outside the classroom. Our social committee plays an essential role in fostering community spirit by organizing events and activities that bring together students, faculty, and families. These events strengthen relationships, promote collaboration, and create a supportive, welcoming environment where everyone feels like part of the ICSJ family. Together, our professional learning community and social committee contribute to a vibrant, dynamic school environment where growth, collaboration, and connection are always prioritized.
