ICSJ is committed to creating an active learning environment through the use of technology to support, enhance, and enrich curriculum in all grade levels. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to prepare students for our increasingly competitive, complex and technology-driven society. It is our goal to guide students to create, collaborate, and communicate both inside and outside of the classrooms. Leveraging technology enables students to access to everywhere learning that is more student-centered than traditional methods. Teachers create engaging lessons that build knowledge, collaboration, and teamwork skills, all while increasing the opportunity for truly individualized instruction.

Early Childhood

Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students utilize technology throughout the day in developmentally appropriate ways to expand their understanding of new concepts. For example, early childhood students enhance their comprehension skills by using iPad applications to retell stories and identify key details and main characters. These classrooms follow a shared iPad model, allowing students to participate and engage in small group learning centers or individualized instruction.

Grades 1-3

In our 1st through 3rd-grade classrooms, our students follow a 2:1 shared iPad model with access to an additional shared iPad cart, creating a 1:1 learning environment for certain instruction. Elementary students may use iPad applications to incorporate voice and text annotations in group collaboration, strengthening their critical thinking and teamwork skills. Through integrated learning systems such as Raz-Kids and Mathletics, teachers can tailor instruction using the iPad to meet individual student needs.

Grades 4-8

Our 4th through 8th-grade students enjoy access to a 1:1 iPad learning environment. Students collaborate with faculty and peers using Google Drive and incorporate technology into daily instruction. Teachers empower students to create movies, digital presentations, and written work online. The digital tools work in conjunction with traditional instructional methods to teach students how to efficiently and effectively assess, evaluate, manage and use information from multiple sources.

Common Sense Media

In 2015, ICSJ partnered with Common Sense Media to empower students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world through their digital citizenship program.
